Women Who Stare at Goats Collective - Farming with a Feminine Touch.

We are the guardians of a small dairy goat herd on San Juan Island, Wa. We practice Animal Midwifery as a holistic, intuitive approach to raising animals. This pioneering method is a running experiment rooted in developing real relationship with the animals. We are committed to learning their personal dynamics, language, behaviors and herd culture to collaborate with them toward roles & goals within the vision of the farm as a whole. Respect, attunement, quiet observation and negotiations with the animas involved in order to uphold the quality of life of the creatures. We believe that the quality of care results in a greater quality in the offerings the animals provide - from fresh milk, cheeses & sweet treats made from their milk to fun public events or friendly hang-time with the herd. The main ‘product’ we focus on is their quality of life, and our offerings are a reflection of that, in which we, and our community get to enjoy, including them!

Help our herd secure their forever home!

We have the opportunity to secure a permanent home for our sweet herd & just 2 months to make it happen.
Our herd has been living on a beautiful 120-acre farm and

We live and work on the ancestral homelands of the Coast Salish people who have lived in the region since time immemorial.  We acknowledge the Tribes' treaty rights, as well as our responsibility to uphold them and to collectively steward our planet and shared resources.
